My Old Mirror Transformed

Published March 7, 2013 by theodoodles

This is a project I worked on at the weekend.  It was an old black plastic mirror I bought many years ago.  The flowers are from a bouquet my eldest daughter bought me for Mothers’ Day a few years ago.  They were in a beautiful tall black vase up until about three months ago when my dogs decided to beat each other to the front door and knocked it flying.   I decided I would make my mirror sort of shabby chic.  So I gessoed it with acrylic gesso, and gave it three coats of white acrylic paint.  I hot glued the flowers to the frame, but the Gerberas were kind of top heavy so I had to open up the frame from the back and wire them on to it, which has done the trick.  Now it hangs back in my hall in its original position but brightens up my entrance hall.  I am rather pleased how it turned out as this is the first time I have done any large pieces.  I hope you like it and thank you for stopping by.

This is another little album from the tutorial from Susie @creativecafegirl on You Tube.  This is made from 12 x 12 papers and some 8 x 8.  This time I made it with the proper materials and it turned out beautifully.  I did not have any of the  tags so I had to make my own on my computer, but they turned out pretty well.  This is one of the nicest album designs I have come across so far and I will be using it a lot. Thank you for stopping by.

This is a little album made from a tutorial by Susie @ creativecafegirl on You Tube.  She has a wonderful clear step by step tutorial which takes you through everything, from all the correct measurements and materials, to a beautiful album at the end.  I am keeping this one as a sample, as I did not have all the correct materials and I made a few mistakes along the way, but in all I am very pleased with how it turned out.  Please visit Susie as she has some wonderful projects which I can’t wait to try out.

This is a little album that I picked up from lisa the snazzycrafter on You Tube last night.  It is made from cardstock and the front and back covers are made from acetate.  The pages are made from cardstock cut 6″ x 8″  and scored at 1″, 2″ and 3″  I noticed when I was folding them up that I had to take a little shim of the 1″ fold to make them fold under so that they wouldn’t bend the cardstock out of shape.  It is a delightful little album and takes 6×6″ papers beautifully if you remember to apply them before you punch your holes for the rings.  If you needed a present in a hurry you could make this up in no time.  Beautiful!  Thank you for stopping by.

This little album is made out of a packet of apertue cards and envelopes. The envelopes have been sealed with Dst and slit open along both long sides. A stack the deck binding hinge has been used although in this case a very small one as there are only four aperture cards. The decorations on the corners and the surround of the aperture are Spellbinders Parisian Accents, the papers are from a collection given free with a magazine.  The paper edging on the front is also from Parisian Accents.  The chinese braid down the spine and round the inside of the cover back and front was supplied by Fiona @ jennings 644. Etsy store along with the little flower arrangement on the cover made by Jolee’s by You.  Thank you for stopping by.

This is a little album I made out of scalloped cards that I had left over from last christmas.  Because the cover paper has buttons all over I made the theme for the tags about sewing.  Each tag has something to do with sewing a mannequin, scissors, neddle and thread, etc.  The photo mats are covered with a 6×6 paper mat that I got free in a magazine, and the little journals are free downloads from  Thank you for stopping by.

This is a beautiful little album to make and you will find the tutorial for it at charliejones2686 You Tube How to make a Zig Zag Album.  I have got the ABC Primer papers in 8 x 8 and I don’t think I have ever seen them in 12 x 12 as a paper pad only as single papers.  When making this album I found I had to resize a lot of the graphics to make them look right for the size of this album so I can only think that Claire uses the indiviual 12 x 12 papers.  Saying that it is a really beautiful little album and would make a lovely little gift for a mother who child is just starting school to collect all the memories that come from such a big event in a child’s life, even possibly for an older child starting bigger school.  It would make something to look back on when the child is older.
